We Won the Pantone Award!
I am very proud to announce that Stacy Chan was chosen by the team at the Pantone Color Institute as The Pantone Wild Color Card Bag for Best Use of Color at the Independent Handbag Designer Awards last week!
The ceremony was held at the SVA Theatre in New York City. The evening began with some bubbles and mingling with bloggers, press, sponsors and the other nominees. It was so exciting to speak with other designers from around the world and learn about their design processes and inspirations. There were designers from South Africa, India, Lebanon, China, UK, USA, Italy and more!
Once the ceremony started, founder of the awards, Emily Blumenthal from Handbag Designer 101 spoke about the 10-year history of the competition. There was excitement among the nominees as each category’s winner was announced, including the Best Student Made, the Most Socially Responsible and the Guess Logo Handbag.
One of the final awards to be announced was the Pantone Wild Color Card Bag which was chosen from among all the nominees for the Best Use of Pantone Color. Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, spoke about the importance of colour in the design process and how their company works with designers and companies around the world to bring their ideas to life. She said it was difficult enough to incorporate one colour, let alone two into the design process. I held my breath – and then she announced Stacy Chan!
The audience watched the video about the Stacy Chan brand and the design of the winning Madeleine Cross Body. Watch it here!
I was so honoured to have been chosen, and thanked Emily from Handbag Designer 101 for organising the 10th year of the Independent Handbag Designer Awards and Laurie and the team at Pantone, the global standard for colour, for choosing our handbag. Colour plays such a key role in my design process and I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with Pantone!
